About The Event

Rumi’s academy presents:

How not to die!

The vast majority of premature deaths can be prevented through simple changes in diet and lifestyle. Leading killers such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, account for 80% of deaths in Europe. Diseases of the circulatory system (ischaemic heart disease, stroke, etc.) are the most important cause of premature death before the age of 65, accounting for nearly 50% of total deaths.

Cancer is the second leading cause, accounting for nearly 20%. Prevention is an effective measure to reduce the premature mortality; backed up by peer-reviewed scientific evidence, we will discuss which foods are good and which lifestyle changes allow us to live longer.

Taking Dr. Michael Greger’s book “How not to Die” we will discuss how the rise of chronic disease is taking over our ability to control our health and how chronic diseases can be reversed. We will discover the food which have been scientifically proven to prevent and reverse disease and how this is the only measure to reduce the impact of diseases for which no effective treatment is yet available.

This lecture will be led by Tayyibah Ali. Whom is currently undertaking a Ph.D. at Imperial college London. And has an MSc by Research in Cancer Biology from Imperial College London. Also she holds a BSc in Biomedical Science, a programme accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS).

Her current thesis is looking at 'Centronuclear myopathy and Charcot-Marie- Tooth peripheral neuropathy induced abnormalities in cell membrane transport.'
