There is a general misconception that the God of Islam is one of wrath and anger. The ancient path of Sufism, or Tasawwuf as it is known in the Muslim world, is the inward dimension of Islam, essentially Islamic mysticism. Sufis seek to find the truth of divine love and knowledge through direct personal experience of the Beloved. It is a rapturous, deeply devoted path. This seeker craves for the conscious realization of what his heart already knows – that he is connected very intimately with the essence of Allah, and in fact his true nature lies in the experience of knowing that ultimate reality.
