Prophecy and Poetry: Discussions on the Meanings of al-Busayri’s Hamziyya.
Course description: A four part discussion on select verses of Imām al Busayri’s (d.1297) Hamziyya, a 400 line praise poem that includes the biography and history of Sayyidinā wa Mawlānā Muḥammad ﷺ.
Through our discussions we aim at collectively reaching a more holistic appreciation and understanding of the reality of the Prophet, ﷺ that both connects us to our traditional past as well as provides a structure for our future development.

Bio: Imam Muhammad Abdul Latif Finch is an American convert Muslim. He is a Zaytuna Institute (now College) graduate with ijazas in the Islamic Sciences including; Quranic Sciences, Hadith, Maliki and Shafi’i Jurisprudence, Usul Fiqh, Seerah, Logic, and Arabic Grammar and Morphology under the tutelage of noted scholars; Shaykh Hamza Yusef, Shaykh Salik bin Siddina, Imam Zaid Shakir, Shaykh Abdur Rahman Taahir, Qari Umar Bellahi, Shaykh Abdullah Ali, and Shaykh Yahya Rhodus. He is currently a graduate student of philosophy in Berkeley, California.
